Colossi of Memnon, 60 foot high enthroned statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III (14th century BC) they stand on the flood plains on the West Bank of the River Nile at Thebes.The statue on the right, the East (or North) Colossus was damaged by an earthquake  'this statue emmitted strange sounds in the morning, perhaps due to the heat of the sun,or the humidity of the night.
